You might already be familiar with the term “bandwidth” from your internet provider. At its core, bandwidth refers to the amount of data that can travel through an internet connection at a given time.
When a visitor accesses your website, they send a request to the server, and the server responds by delivering your website’s content. It’s similar to turning on a tap—water flows through a pipe, and the more people visiting your site, the more water flows. Eventually, the pipe may reach full capacity if there’s too much demand.
This is the same concept with websites. If too many users try to access your site simultaneously, the “pipe” (your bandwidth) fills up, causing your website to slow down or even stop working. Your hosting bandwidth determines how wide that pipe is, influencing how well your website handles high traffic.
